Saving Your Marriage with Gratitude

The 30 Day Marriage Gratitude Journal Challenge is off to a good start with 6 members in our group so far.

Saving marriages and families is a subject near and dear to my heart.  Marriages are in trouble today.  Our society has become a ‘Society of Disposables’ (Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints).  Built-in obsolescence is such a part of our manufacturing processes today, think cell phones, clothes, and cars, which we happily discard for new ones, even if the old one isn’t worn out.  This attitude has even pervaded our relationships, creating ‘throw-away’ marriages and families.

How many of us have not been impacted by such a relationship in our lives, whether in our own personal families or that of someone close to us.   In my own family, my parents separated when I was very young, under the age of 5.  Their marriage wasn’t saved, and they ultimately divorced.

They both remarried…. and divorced, multiple times.  Lives were effected negatively, not just their own.  As a result of this , my siblings and I grew up with no example of how to create our own happy marriages.  Thankfully, I married a man who had a great example of loving parents and a happy, successful home.  He taught me a great deal during our 44 years of marriage.  We did have a great marriage but in part it was achieved by the fact that we worked at it.   He passed away 2 years ago.

count our blessings - make our blessings count

My new husband, Rendel and I have been married for just over 3 months now.  Our marriage is wonderful.  But, we too, know the value of work in the marriage.  As Dieter Uchtdorf states, “strong marriages and family relationships do not happen just because…  They require constant, intentional work.”

One way of working on your marriage is to keep a gratitude journal.  What are you grateful for about your spouse?  What do you love about your marriage?  Keeping a daily gratitude journal can do wonders for your marriage.  It re-ignites your love and passion for your partner.

Would you like to experience renewed love and passion for your partner?  Then join us for the 30 day Marriage Gratitude Journal Challenge.  Join the conversation on our Facebook group, 30 Day Marriage Journal Challenge.

I look forward to seeing you in the group!

Have an amazing day.  Dare to dream!
